A Miracle Unfolding
We are blessed to say that we are home and Aidan is thriving, to borrow a descriptor from his pediatrician.
After two weeks of treatment at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, we were discharged and got to bring our little man of steel home.
Fast forward through three months of celebrating holidays, enrolling him in swimming lessons, cringing as we put away infant clothing and returning to our jobs, we are finally experiencing some semblance of normalcy. One thing we do not want to do is diminish God’s miracle in our lives by fully embracing “normal” life. We believe that we went through this experience for a reason and do not intend to waste the lessons we learned.
Instead of looking at Aidan’s progress as a series of milestones, we choose to believe they are miracles.
Reflection
From his first legitimate smile to the way he “chats” with us, we are constantly reminded of the blessings God has bestowed upon us. This is a modest list of all the miracles we could think of off the top of our heads (and at the end of a long work week!):
1. Our pediatrician and cardiologist appointments are going better than we could have ever fathomed. Aidan’s heart function continues to improve and he is being weaned off of all medicine.
2. His oxygen numbers continue to rise, which allowed us to return all of the equipment we were sent home from the hospital with.
3. Our insurance company approved a series of expensive shots to protect him from Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), which can seriously affect children with cardiac conditions.
4. We are able to go out in public with him and socialize after being cleared by all doctors
5. We have maintained contact with the night nurse who spotted his condition and got him down to the NICU in time to be treated and found the perfect gift for her (a bracelet that reads “Heart of Gold”).
6. Aidan sleeps through the night (This is filed under miracle and blessing with a capital “B”)
7. Amy has returned to work and our parents are able to watch Aidan on days when we are both at work

Romans 8:28 reads: And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
After a couple of months of decompressing, we continue to see God working in our lives on a daily basis. We want to thank our family and friends for all of the love and support you have given us and hope that Steady After You encourages you when times are tough.
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
